Part 2 of service prodject:
1. We will be helping to clean up the community. Not much but a spark can set a fire. 2. I have interviewed Paster Jay one very important thing he said was: "It may not be alot but this will help us reach the community God wanted and still wants" After doing a lot of recearch i found out that the issue isn't big unless we make it big. if we continue to clean up, it wont be a big problem. People say bigger is better- sometimes its not. 3. "Fish, animals, people are dying because there is to much trash in the lakes, cities, everywhere. If people just got together [like us] and helped- there would be no illness or death because of that" News weekly. 4. Our goal is to help get a clean community like God wanted. 5. In order to do that (4) I will need a group of people ready to help. 6. We will go outside the east gate Of canyon lake. Our group will clean up. 7. Well my prodject wont help much but it will get a clean start to a nice community . 8. I will be doing it with group called the helping hands group. There will be a post made on there website about it. |
The trash monster- Service Project Memoir
The Trash Monster
Helping hands. Sounds so simple. The organization that changed my life. It started one sticky night going to youth group. The pastor was going through the list of announcements when something caught my ear. Service project. My hand shot up without a thought. "What is the service project for?" Asked after being called on. "to serve the community" he replied. The pastors name was Jay. Not old but wise- a weird mix but he made it work. After hearing those words I know my life would change.
The day was Saturday. It was a cool breezy morning and I was there. In the helping hands tent. Getting my gloves for the project. After every one had been sighed in, Jay came up with the leader and explained what we were doing. "A seed can plant a tree, lots of fruit and air it gives, but all it needs is the seed. A seed we will be planting. It will not always grow- no not always but it may grow. Yes that is why we are here today. Because it may." Said the leader of the organization. "We will basically be picking up trash, to make our community one of what God wanted." Jay summed up. After a few more instructions we were put into our groups. And just like that, we were off.
How much trash can a person dump into these bushes? I thought as I grabbed bundles of trash from the bushes. Beer bottled, lotto tickets, receipts, and not to mention TONS of cigarette butts. Well what do you expect if you go fishing for trash in the bushes next to a liquor store heard something interesting- something rustling in the bushes. I went to the group leader who grabbed at the bushes. Out came a little white mouse suffocating in a liquor bottle. Without a thought she pulled him out and set him down. That look after he scurried away- that second glance changed it all.
After what I saw I learned that the littlest act- the littlest move can change someone's life. Because pulling that mouse out of the bottle was a little effortless act but it saved a life. Although cleaning trash may not be the biggest service product- I may save another life- which is enough for me to be excited to help.

Reflect: We cleaned the community and made it closer to the one God wanted. We accomplished our goal- i know because as people were walking by, we heard things like: "wow this seems cleaner" No i do not thing the only thing that makes a service project successful is accomplishing a goal. The learning experience is enough i think. Our service project didn't have a huge impact- but as i said- it is one step closer to what God wants.I served many people each saying how amazing our Group is.
